The Abigail Adams Historical Society (AAHS), stewards of the Abigail Adams Birthplace, presents Behind the Scenes at the Abigail Adams Birthplace: A Tour with Preservation Carpenter Walter Beebe-Center on Saturday, November 4, 2017. The tour will be offered twice, from 10:00 a.m. to noon and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 180 Norton St., North Weymouth, Mass.

The Abigail Adams Historical Society concludes its year-long commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the rescue of the ca. 1685 Abigail Adams Birthplace from demolition with this special behind-the-scenes tour. Led by Walter Beebe-Center, owner of Essex Restoration, the program will feature an overview of the 2012–2013 restoration which Beebe-Center oversaw and which confirmed the building’s 17th-century construction date. It will also include a structural tour of the home from basement to second floor, sites usually not shown to the public.

Abigail Smith Adams was born in the home in 1744 and married John Adams in the front parlor in 1764. Since 1947 the site has been overseen by the nonprofit Abigail Adams Historical Society.

Tours are limited to 15. Tickets are $25 per person/ $20 for members and must be reserved in advance through AAHS1947@yahoo.com. You will receive a confirmation indicating you have a reservation or are wait-listed. Those receiving a confirmation should be prepared to pay by check or cash at the door.
