Tea with Mrs. Adams

Our second First Lady is coming to tea. Join Abigail Adams as she reflects on her courtship, marriage, and love in wartime.

Our second First Lady is coming to tea, and the public is invited! Join Mrs. John Adams as she reflects on her courtship, marriage, and love in wartime. Bridgman will discuss Abigail’s life in the former First Lady’s own words and in her first home. Guests will be served desserts and tea on fine china while they enjoy visiting the Birthplace and conversing with Mrs. Adams.

Since 2005, Adams scholar and living-history interpreter Patricia Bridgman has been appearing in character as Abigail Adams across the region. She has devoted many years to the study of this remarkable woman’s life and times. Her portrayal of Mrs. Adams is authentic regarding important issues about the education and rights of women, but she also shows a lighter side, poking gentle fun at her peers who deserve it, including Mr. Adams! Bridgman has appeared widely at such respected institutions as the Adams National Historical Park, Minuteman National Park, Old Sturbridge Village, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, and the Old State House.
 
Proceeds from AAHS programs support its mission to commemorate and educate a worldwide audience about the extraordinary life and times of Abigail Smith Adams, and her legacy of service to the country, and to preserve and interpret her Birthplace, where her character and ideals were formed, as a resource and inspiration for all. Society membership and donations are gratefully appreciated.
